The Image of Erdogan: Payitaht Abdülhamid

In the very well known series Payitaht Abdulhamid which tells the story of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid in the 19th century, the receiver subjects are planned to be at the same point of view with AK Party's struggle after 15 July coup attempt. Abdulhamid was been derailed from the throne by Ittihadists (the opposition community of union and progress party in the Ottoman parliament during Abdulhamid era). The Ittihadists are connected with the opposition party CHP today, by saying that they are in command of Pennsylvania, as Erdogan and his alliance states. The series is mainly about the struggles of Abdulhamid, with his loneliness against the Western and domestic powers to perpetuate the empire as the last castle for the Islam world. In the series, not the whole of the events is historic, though, lots of them are fiction. The image of Abdulhamid is wise, virtuous, alone and powerful. Occasionally, the catchwords are coming from similar writers who give texts to Erdogan. The series obviously refers to today's issues in Turkey and with president's and his supporters' Abdulhamid love, Abdulhamit refers to Erdogan. The identification of Erdogan just like Abdulhamit doesn't conclude with an image created to conduct a similarity and give him a gracious theme, the statements of Erdogan are in a different way: "To learn the history, watch Payitaht Abdulhamid". This discourse and image are a part of the perpetutity discourse, in the series variety of coup attempts are trying to be avoided, yet the target audio gets the message that the events in this TV series are for real. The image of Erdogan as the successor of Abdulhamid becomes a simulacrum. Nevertheless, one of the popular articles gives the slogan of "We will not let you down to the loneliness of Abdulhamidhan", reflects that the reference of this popularity and belief. This is an example of a media contribution to a simulacrum.

Inter'siz Rail

Inter'siz Rail Bir pazar sabahıydı. Bir hafta öncesinden almıştım biletimi. Manisa'dan Uşak'a tren ile gidecektim. Yol hatırladığım kadarı ile beş saat sürüyordu. Sabah saat 8 sularında garda trenin gelmesini bekledim. Her zaman olduğu gibi rötar yaparak geldi. İçim kıpır kıpırdı yine de, tren yolculuklarına bayılırdım çünkü. Herhangi bir yere gitmenin en uzun yoluydu trenler ama yolda giderken başka hiçbir ulaşım yolu ile göremeyeceğiniz manzaralar armağan ediyordu size,  gün batımında kaydedilen şu saniyeler gibi: Açıkçası bana huzur veren anlardan biriydi. Trene bindiğimde fark ettim ki bulunduğum vagonun kliması bozukmuş, aylardan Temmuz olması nedeniyle de vagondaki insanlar diğer vagonlara gitmişlerdi. İnsanın içinde bir his olur da anlatamaz ya, işte o his benim için yalnız kalmakmış. Koskoca vagonda tek başıma sessiz sedasız yolculuk yapmak öyle güzeldi ki... İstediğim gibi dolaşabiliyordum ya da ağlayan bir bebeğin sesini duymak zorunda kalmıyordum ora
